The Boyer Review
By Randall Boyer, M.D.
Welcome to The Boyer Review. Seldom do we get to review such an exciting product as today's, NutriHarmony's The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™. Not only does The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™ support the production of lean tissue and fat metabolism like nothing we have ever
seen, it is also safe!
But the good news does not stop here. The interplay of the
components in this product support multiple major health functions that are universally needed
by everyone. The developer of this product has combined seven internationally researched and
produced components into a single supplement, whose components will synergistically work
together and silently transform the body into a more healthy and a leaner state. The components
as reviewed are not necessarily in any order of importance.
NutriHarmony! At last, a company that really understands the significance and difference between
weight loss and fat loss.
But even more important, it is properly addressing how to attack your
unwanted fat and preserve your lean muscle!
As a physician, I have been looking for certain truths in order to properly handle this serious and epidemic medical condition of being
'overfat'. NutriHarmony is the first to truly recommend throwing out your scale! Be confident and rest assured that NutriHarmony understands and is addressing all matters to assure safe fat loss. I know!
In order for you to lose "fat" inches and keep them off, you must accomplish certain truths:
- You must increase your metabolism (rate of burning calories) by eating regularly and moving more. 5 to 6 small meals per day are preferred, and regular exercise is important.
- You must increase your lean calorie-burning tissue (muscle), again by moving more — preferably by including a weight training program.
- You must prevent loss of your lean muscle due to insufficient protein intake and going too long without eating, both of which slow your metabolism and slow your loss of fat.
- You must lower and stabilize fat-storing insulin levels by preventing often excessive rises in blood sugar level spiking in response to certain foods, especially high sugar and carbohydrate foods.
- You must reduce stress, which causes a rise in blood cortisol levels that is one of the causes of dangerous abdominal fat deposition.
NutriHarmony is the first company to actually understand and address these truths to my satisfaction.
Medically, it is desirable to lose fat from certain high risk areas. Abdominal fat (pot-belly) is without question associated with the highest risk of developing diseases such as diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease and cancer. Most of us desire to lose fat from certain areas. Perhaps it is your hips, buttocks, thighs or abdomen areas, which are likely your genetically predisposed fat storage areas and are the most difficult areas to lose from. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to lose fat especially from these genetic problem areas?
NutriHarmony is the first company to actually understand and address these truths to my satisfaction. In fact, they are so confident that they have the solution that they even guarantee lifetime inches lost!
But wait a minute! Wouldn't it be nice to have a "cheater" to help assist taking that fat off and keeping keep it off — an assist in making that body of your dreams? Well, NutriHarmony has got the product for you: The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™. The potential benefits of this product are indeed monumental in achieving a leaner body. When I reviewed the research on each component of this product, I said, "They really have developed a safe, non-stimulant product that addresses all the truths needed for fat loss."
The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™ contains the following components:
| Glucosol (OptiPure™) | 48 mg |
| 5-methoxy, 7-methoxy Isoflavone | 100 mg |
| Ecdysterone | 40mg |
| Cayenne (140,000 heat units, capsaicin) | 27 mg |
| Real Food™ Zinc | 15 mg elemental weight |
| Real Food™ Vanadium | 5 mg elemental weight |
| Real Food™ Boron | 1.25 mg elemental weight |
The first component is Glucosol (48 mg), which is a plant extract with insulin-like effects, and is
referred to as a "phytoinsulin." The active compound in Glucosol, corosolic acid, has been shown
to help maintain the normal transport of blood sugar into cells, and thus it promotes normal blood
sugar levels, and does so without causing low blood sugar referred to as "hypoglycemia." This is
important in preventing food cravings. This phytoinsulin effect will stabilize your blood sugar
level and help keep your body's own fat storing insulin low.
"Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis" may be the most common form of chronic liver disease in the
United States today. This inflammatory condition of the liver induced by excess fat cells within
the liver is the by-product of the epidemics of obesity and diabetes sweeping the country. For
unknown reasons it effects women more than men. For up to 20% of those effected, this
inflammation can cause a buildup of fibrous tissue in the liver, and that can ultimately lead to
life-threatening cirrhosis from severe damage to the liver. The diagnosis is suspected when
blood liver enzymes (ALT, AST) are elevated, and is confirmed by liver biopsy. Initial treatment
is to lose weight and control blood sugars. It is highly significant that Glucosol reduced liver
fat by 65% as noted below.
Numerous clinical studies have been done using Glucosol attesting to its benefits:
- A double-blind crossover study on 15 type-2 diabetics confirmed it promotes normal blood sugar metabolism even several weeks after being discontinued.
- A double-blind crossover, placebo-controlled study with 24 diabetics found it effective in reducing blood sugar levels and with no adverse effects. Even a one-time dose left a memory-effect for blood sugar control for some time after it was taken.
- A study with very overweight mice using either a control diet (placebo) or a Glucosol containing diet showed a significant lowering of fat weight in the Glucosol group. In addition, they had a 65% reduction in liver fats on Glucosol.
- Study of humans has similarly shown an increased tendency toward weight loss.
Clearly, Glucosol is effective at driving blood sugar into the correct cells and tissues. This may
well translate into lean muscle building (anabolic) in bodybuilders and overfat people. Also these
studies show a clear benefit to those with obesity-related insulin resistance, which leads to high
insulin levels. High insulin levels are a very common problem these days that is linked to the
development of type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal lipid levels (fats like cholesterol,
HDL, LDL and triglycerides,), and coronary heart disease.
The next component is 5-methoxy, 7-methoxy isoflavone (100 mg), a compound developed for
the Russian astronauts for putting on lean muscle before and after space travel, which is known
to produce massive muscle loss due to the weightlessness of the body while in space. Due to the Cold War, it has been impossible to obtain the actual studies that were done by the developing Hungarian pharmaceutical company or the Russian astronauts on this astounding lean
muscle building compound. However, the Hungarians reportedly found up to 2.7 kilograms of new
lean tissue (5.94 pounds) along with 2.4 kilograms of fat loss (5.06 pounds) in just eight weeks, with no changes in diet or activity. The Russian's reportedly found about the same.
In addition, studies on 5-methoxy, 7-methoxy isoflavone from Russia that have been kept
secret reportedly demonstrated that it slows catabolism (the breakdown of tissues), and
increases the use of calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and significantly increases nitrogen
retention by around 30%! These increases equate with profound levels of anabolic activity — the
buildup lean muscle mass! To date, no negative impact on body hormonal activity or toxicity has
been found.
Although 5-methoxy, 7-methoxy isoflavone certainly will not relieve us of life's stresses, which are known to
result in high blood cortisol levels which causes the accumulation of bad abdominal fat, 5-
methoxy, 7-methoxy isoflavone is known to lower cortisol levels significantly in certain
individuals, such as those who are wasting with high cortisol levels. The significance of this finding is
unknown and only open for speculation at this time.
The next component, Ecdysterone (40 mg), is a pure and concentrated active anabolic
phytochemical, meaning natural and from the plant, imported from the Soviet Union. It has previously been
used on their world class Olympic athletes. Scientific studies using ecdysterone on healthy
athletes have demonstrated impressive gains in lean muscle as well as in performance.
Researchers hypothesized that ecdysterone works by increasing hepatic (liver) protein synthesis
as well as promoting significant positive nitrogen balance. When ecdysterone is combined with
intake of the highest quality protein, such as NutriHarmony's Ion Exchange Whey Protein or its Real Food™ Meal Replacement Product, the maximal amount of lean mass will be produced. No effect on hormone balance in the body or toxicity from ecdysterone has been found:
In a study by Simakin on 78 highly trained athletes, the group using both a protein supplement along with ecdysterone had a 6 to 7% increase in lean muscle and a 10% reduction in fat content after ten days of the test.
In a study by Fadeev, et al, on 112 athletes, 89% of those receiving ecdysterone reported less fatigue, improved performance, less apathy, and greater speed-strength qualities.
The next component is 27 mg of Cayenne in the extract form as 140,000 heat units of capsaicin. As a thermogenic which speeds the metabolism naturally, it warms the body and does so without the use of stimulants such as ma huang (ephedra) and guarana, which are dangerous to your body.
Studies on exercising rats were published in the journal Nutrition Research, and the capsaicin group showed a significant decrease in abdominal fat compared to the placebo group. Capsaicin caused a beta-adrenergic mobilization of fat that was not found in the placebo group. In addition to capsaicin improving body composition and fat mobilization, it is further theorized that your body will mobilize and lose fat from its' genetically predisposed fat storage areas!
Each Real Food Process™ mineral supports necessary functions of the live final end product: a healthier and leaner you!
The last three components are Real Food™ minerals, meaning they have been transformed from
inert minerals to biologically alive minerals as would be found in live plant food. This process
represents a whole new dimension of absorption and bioavailability when compared to traditional
synthetic vitamins and ground-up rocks sold as minerals, which have no life! Each Real Food Process™
mineral supports necessary functions of the live final end product: a healthier and leaner you!
Real Food™ Zinc (15 mg elemental weight) is a trace mineral that is involved in over one
hundred important enzyme reactions in the body. Its presence is important for proper hormone
levels that determine whether you end up fat or thin. Additionally, it has an important role in
immune function, cell growth, wound healing including muscle recovery, senses of taste and smell,
prostate gland function, the metabolism of carbohydrates and protein synthesis.
Real Food™ Vanadium (5 mg elemental weight) is a trace mineral, which acts to mimic the
effects of the hormone insulin, driving sugar into cells for energy utilization without
insulin's actual presence. Although a controlled amount of insulin is important for proper
carbohydrate metabolism, protein synthesis and glycogen synthesis, too high a level of insulin can
induce arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), high blood pressure and interfere with the
breakdown of stored fat. In fact, insulin is a fat-storing hormone. As an insulin mimicker,
vanadium may allow the normal functions of insulin to be accomplished with less actual insulin
production.
A major health problem now occurring at epidemic proportions is that of insulin resistance, which is brought on by increased fat mass, reduced lean body mass, a high-carbohydrate and highsaturated fat diet, and a sedentary activity lifestyle. Insulin resistance often leads to hyperinsulinemia (high blood insulin levels), which is associated with hypertension, blood vesselnarrowing lipid abnormalities, abnormal blood coagulation, and so called left ventricular hypertrophy of the heart. Insulin resistance is the fundamental defect in the epidemic of type-2 diabetes.
The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™ will aid in putting on muscle, stabilize blood sugar
levels hour after hour, increase metabolism, lower human insulin levels, inhibit food cravings and
inhibit fat storage.
The good news: Vanadium has been shown to lower the insulin resistance of cells associated with both obesity and type-2 diabetes:
- Researchers at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver were actually able to eliminate the diabetic condition of diabetic animals using vanadyl sulfate, a form of vanadium.
- Researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City gave vanadyl sulfate to human type-2 diabetics with marked insulin resistance and were able to cause a significant reduction in insulin resistance and blood glucose levels.
Vanadium has also been shown to expand cell volumization, allowing greater influx of water and
nutrients necessary for maximal cell hydration and protein synthesis, both of which are
important to body builders and those trying to overcome dehydrated and poor functioning cells such as they occur in diabetics and most disease states. To date no toxicity has been found in animal or human studies using vanadium.
The last component is Real Food™ Boron (1.25 mg elemental weight), which is a mineral needed
in the production of hormones needed for lean tissue production. Boron is also needed for normal
calcium uptake and strong bone formation. Other recent findings of interest include:
- A recent study from California showed preliminary evidence of a link between the presence of high dietary amounts of boron and "a big reduction of prostate cancer."
- Recent animal studies suggest proper levels of boron are necessary for proper brain activation with regard to tasks of motor speed and dexterity, attention and short-term memory.
Thus, The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™ will aid in putting on muscle, stabilize blood sugar
levels hour after hour, increase metabolism, lower human insulin levels, inhibit food cravings and
inhibit fat storage. This is not to deminish the many other potential health benefits noted.
Combining these attributes with those of NutriHarmony's The Real Food™ Meal Replacement
Product (MRP) or its Ion Exchange Whey Protein will make the ideal combination for maximizing lean muscle production and minimizing the storage of body fat.
Congratulations, NutriHarmony, on producing the most efficacious and exciting products for producing lean muscle
and for controlling the condition of being "overfat".
Recommended Serving Size of The Real Food™ Lean Maximizer™: one or two capsules twice daily taken twenty minutes prior to a standard food meal, but may be taken right along with NutriHarmony's MRP or its Ion Exchange Whey Protein.
